Benedict Canyon Brush Fire Threatens Homes, Mandatory Evacuations Ordered

Fire is estimated to be 32 acres, according to the LAFD, and is impacting a neighborhood known for its multi-million dollar homes

A brush fire is threatening the Benedict Canyon area in Los Angeles on Tuesday, a location known for its multi-million dollar homes.

The affluent neighborhood is home to a several Hollywood stars, including Barbara Eden, Channing Tatum, Jessica Alba, Jon Voight, Lisa Vanderpump, Jon Lovitz and Emmy Rossum.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, more than 150 firefighters have been assigned to fight the fire with “more being added.” The LAFD said the fire encompassed a number of homes in the area are under “immediate threat.”

So far, no injuries have been reported. LAFD announced on Twitter that evacuations were taking place along San Ysidro Dr. between Milboro Pl. and and Beeson Dr., including Beeson Dr. and Milboro Pl. west of San Ysidro. UCLA’s Wooden Center has been set as the evacuation center.

The fire is currently estimated at 32 acres, according to the LAFD, with potential of reaching 60 acres.

Over the weekend, a fire also burned along the 5 Freeway in the Santa Clarita Valley. Another fire burned an area between Laguna Beach and Aliso Viejo before that.
