Bernie Sanders Discovers Etsy and Merchandise With His Face On It (Video)

Jimmy Kimmel bought Bernie T-shirts, candles and baseball caps from the crafts website

If there’s anything Bernie Sanders knows about, it’s independent, grassroots campaigns and caring about the average American rather than big corporations. So it’s surprising that Jimmy Kimmel had to explain to him what Etsy is, the definitive website for handmade crafts and commerce.

And it turns out a lot of Bernie supporters make stuff for sale on Etsy — much of it with Sanders’ face on it. Fortunately, Kimmel bought some of that merchandise and showed it to him for his approval on Thursday night.

There’s a T-shirt that Kimmel described as an “all-Bernie volleyball team” playing with the moon, whatever that is. There’s another that’s a parody of “Back to the Future” that imagines a presidential ticket between Sanders and candidate Beto O’Rourke. He’s got a St. Bernie candle and a baseball cap that has a “Berdie” on it.

“That’s about a bird that landed on a podium. I think we were in Portland, and out of nowhere, this little bird lands on the podium and just is there,” Sanders explained about that particular image. “Some people thought this was a spiritual thing.”

Kimmel even had one more parting gift for the senator, a crop top covered with pictures of Sanders’s head.

“I don’t know what this one is, but I’d love to see you in it. I’m going to give this one to your wife as a little take home item,” Kimmel joked. “You’re getting cheated out of a lot of money there. Trump wouldn’t let that happen. He’d get a cut out of all of it.”

Sanders is campaigning and holding rallies in Los Angeles this weekend, and he stopped by Kimmel to share his vision for America and his hopes about the chance to get to debate Donald Trump.
