“The Real Housewives of New York” returned on Tuesday for Season 7, and while Bravo viewers haven’t seen the ladies for awhile, they’ve not seen each other either.
The most highly anticipated return was made by Bethenny Frankel, following her short-lived talk show and failed marriage.
After a flood of divorces, personal crisis and general life meltdowns, Luann de Lesseps planned to get everyone together for her housewarming party in the Hamptons.
But first Luann caught up with Bethenny and asked the Skinnygirl Cocktail creator if she was still on good terms with her ex, Jason Hoppy.
“No, no — I wish, I had these fantasies of it being that way,” said Bethenny. “If you had caught me eight months ago, I was frayed and fragile — I am still in a crappy position but I know in six months I will be on the other side.”
“There was a time when Bethenny really had it all — she had the husband and the child and the businesses was doing really well,” reflected Luann, while lamenting with the former talk show host.
As for Sonja Morgan, “she’s changed so much, she’s unrecognizable to me,” said Luann. “She’s not nice to me.” Nevertheless, she was invited for the girls’ weekend, as was Ramona, who is “having a s–t time too.”
Bethenny revealed that their relationship had been “real peripheral” over the past few years, “we’ve all had our part in the bulls–t.”
Later when Ramona Singer and Sonja got together, there was more revelations of emotional distress. “Inside, it feels like my world has fallen apart,” Ramona said, about splitting up with husband Mario after 25 years. “It almost feels surreal. It’s like the most bizarre thing that’s ever happened to me and the hardest thing.”
When it comes to surviving the end of a marriage, “be grateful of what you did have and now look forward to the future,” Sonja advised, talking about her own divorce, but Ramona didn’t take kindly to not being the center of attention. “This is the first time I am talking about my Mario situation and she’s making it all about her!” she complained to the camera.
Once the party kicked off, the Housewives went from “classy” to “trashy” as they stripped off to skimpy bikinis and start discussing boob jobs, infidelity, divorce, dating on Tinder, confessions of sex dreams, and inevitably, resorting to hurling insults at each other.
“Real Housewives of New York City,” starring Frankel, Morgan, Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson, Kristen Taekman, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Singer, and new addition Dorinda Medley, airs to Bravo on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
