And the award for Outstanding Lead Actress Who’s Only Really Feigning Interest goes to … Kaley Cuoco!
“The Big Bang Theory” star Cuoco put on an impressive, if unusual, display of her acting chops Thursday, once again flaunting her disregard for taking direction, but this time in a particularly artful way.
In a multi-part Instagram tutorial, Cuoco showed her fans how to pretend to be attentive without actually being so.
“Here’s a #BTS of tonight’s all NEW episode @bigbangtheory_cbs,” Cuoco wrote.
“This is also a perfect example of my acting skills. This is me ‘acting’ like I’m listening to our director,” the actress added.
The message was accompanied by a series of photos — the first, showing Cuoco facing her director, her arms folded and an expression of rapt attention on her face.
In the second photo, the director’s back is turned to Cuoco, whose expression has shifted to … well, the expression of someone who might not be taking things particularly seriously.
By the third, Cuoco has completely abandoned any modicum of seriousness, pointing at her director’s back with her thumb as her facial expression screams, “Get a load of this guy, who actually thinks I was just listening to him!”
According to the CBS comedy’s Twitter account, Thursday night’s episode will be “illuminating.”
“There’s only one person who can pull Sheldon out of this asymmetric funk…@YoungSheldon!” a tweet about this week’s episode noted. “You won’t want to miss this illuminating new #BigBangTheory, Thursday at 8/7c!”
Until then, watch Cuoco shed some light on just how much she cares — or doesn’t — about her director’s thoughts in the photos below.
