Bill Maher jumped right into Friday night’s “Real Time” to talk about what is on everyone’s lips these days — Omarosa Manigault Newman’s scathing new book, “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House,” and the back-and-forth naming-calling between her and the president.
“If you have spent your life as an American refusing to know who Omarosa is, well, now you’re a f— outta luck because she’s got a book to sell,” Maher said. “I believe her official title was Assistant Secretary for Throwing Shade. And boy is she.”
Manigault Newman has dominated the news cycle all week promoting her book, in which she says there are tapes of President Trump using the n-word on “The Apprentice,” and that she felt a “growing realization that Donald Trump was indeed a racist, a bigot and a misogynist.”
“She has a lot to say about Donald Trump,” Maher said. “They’re in a ‘he said, she said.’ He is a ‘racist’ and he ‘suffers from dementia,’ and he says she’s ‘crazed’ and ‘crying’ and a ‘lowlife’ and ‘a dog.’ And Putin said, ‘I can’t believe I have to collude with these people.’”
Maher pointed out that Manigault Newman defended Trump “a million times” and “lied for him” before the book was released earlier this week. “After the election, she said all his detractors would ‘have to bow down before Donald Trump.’ I don’t care. She’s our a–hole now,” Maher said.
“This is where we are, with the reality-show people are now the reality. And you can’t turn away.”
