‘Black Sails’ Season 2 Premiere Ratings on Parrrr With Series Debut

Starz’s pirate epic draws 2.24 million viewers over the weekend

Starz’s pirate epic “Black Sails” retained most of its ratings booty with its Season 2 premiere on Saturday, staying more or less on course with the numbers that its Season 1 premiere hauled in.

The Season 2 premiere pulled in 860,000 total viewers with its initial 9 p.m. airing, a modest improvement over the 846,000 that tuned in for the series premiere last January.

In total weekend numbers, “Black Sails,” a prequel to the events depicted in the Robert Louis Stevenson novel “Treasure Island,” fell slightly short of the weekend numbers for the Season 1 premiere, accumulating 2.24 million viewers, compared to the 2.43 million who tuned in over the weekend for the series premiere last year.

The series stars Toby Stephens as Captain Flint, Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie, Luke Arnold as John Silver and Jessica Parker Kennedy as Max.

“Black Sails” has already been renewed for a third season.
