‘Blade’ Behind Bars – Wesley Snipes Going to Jail Dec. 9

Actor heading for three years in the joint for tax evasion next week, U.S. Marshal orders

It looks like it’s really time to pay up, Wesley.

Guilty of tax evasion, the actor has been ordered by U.S. Marshals to report to federal prison by noon on Dec. 9. Snipes will serve his three-year sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Lewis Run, PA. The notice informed Snipes “failure to report at the designated place and time may result in additional criminal charges."

The 48-year old actor, who has starred in the “Blade” franchise and films such as Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever” and Mario Vann Pebbles’ “New Jack City,” was found guilty in 2008 of failing to pay his taxes over a three-year period in which he earned nearly $40 million.

Snipes has appealed the conviction several times, even declaring he would take it to the Supreme Court – though he never filed documents. On Nov. 30, federal prosecutors dismissed Snipes contention to remain out on bail with going forward with another appeal.
