Bob Costas’ Call for Gun Control Is Answered by an Angry Ted Nugent

The musician questions the "Sunday Night Football" sportscaster's sanity during Twitter rant

Bob Costas surprised "Sunday Night Football" viewers by advocating for gun control a day after Kansas City Chief Jovan Belcher's murder-suicide. No surprise here but Ted Nugent didn't appreciate it.

Joining a number of other naysayers, the proud member of the National Rifle Association took to Twitter shortly after the broadcast to express his discontent for the NBC sportscaster's position on the issue.

"We thought Bob Costas was smarter than that," the musician wrote. "Only fools blame tools instead of human failings. Shame Bob."

Costas quoted FoxSports columnist Jason Whitlock to argue, "Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it."

Nugent, however, doesn't share that opinion.

"Blaming guns for crime is like blaming helmuts for headbutts, " he continued to tweet. "WTF Costas! Uve lost it."

Comparing the issue of gun violence to the issue of obesity, he added, "Hey Bob Costas we all kno that obesity is a direct result of the proliferation of spoons & forks Get a clue."

And the Twitter rant didn't end there.

"#BobCostas has clearly lost his mind," Nugent concluded after contemplating Costas' comments for a few more hours. "Inanimate objects are the problem not murderers. Brilliant."

All the debate surrounding the hot-button issue seems to have made Nugent a little trigger happy. Following his contributions to the heated debate, he went outside and shot a coyote. Along with a picture that would make PETA cringe, his latest tweet reads, "Only good coyote is a dead coyote! Merry Christmas."
