Boston Red Sox Win World Series – Here’s Who Buzzed About it on Facebook

The World Series may have played out on Fox, but it also made its mark on Facebook.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-1 at Fenway Park in Boston on Wednesday night to win Game 6 of the World Series and clinch Major League Baseball’s 2013 championship title. Boston also dominated the conversation on Facebook, generating over 32 million interactions by more than 11 million unique people on the social media platform for the entire 2013 World Series.

The Red Sox out-buzzed the Cardinals 62 percent to 38 percent in terms of Facebook chatter, and men did most of the talking throughout the Series.

Boston first baseman and designated hitter David Ortiz was named MVP of the Series after batting .688, and was by far the most-talked-about player on Facebook. Ortiz, aka Big Papi, received four times the buzz than any other individual player. Eight out of the top 10 most-buzzed-about players all play for champion Boston.
