Brad Stone Skips From the Times to Bloomberg BusinessWeek

Magazine makes yet another high-profile hire

New York Times technology reporter Brad Stone is leaving the paper for Bloomberg BusinessWeek, the magazine announced on Thursday. Stone starts August 2, and will work out of the magazine’s San Francisco bureau.

Stone, who also contributed heavily to the Times’ Bits blog, becomes BBW’s senior writer.

Stone joined the Times in December 2006. (His latest, and perhaps last, byline for the paper was yesterday – a co-authored piece with Jenna Wortham on how Verizon’s partnership with Google and its Droid X may challenge the iPhone.)

It’s a return to weekly newsmagazines for Stone. Before joining the Times, he was Newsweek’s Silicon Valley correspondent from 1998 to 2006. Stone joined Newsweek in 1996.
