‘Breaking Amish’ Preview: Hangovers and History Lessons Do Not Mix (Exclusive Video)

The Amish are really indulging in their big city life, particularly the readily available alcohol

The young people of TLC’s “Breaking Amish” are adjusting more and more to their new lives in New York City, but finding their hard-partying gets in the way of being responsible grown-ups — just like most other young people.

In an exclusive preview (above) of Thursday’s episode, one of the Amish, Bates, has trouble performing at a job interview to be a tour guide, thanks to a massive hangover. For better or worse, he’s very upfront with his potential employers about the reason he’s struggling.

“I know a lot more about it when I’m not hungover,” he admits as they quiz him on why New York is called New York.

They then take the audition out on the streets, where Bates continues to have a hard time keeping up with the city’s long history and busy intersections.

“I can talk about farming and milking goats, but talking about worldly stuff in New York City, that’s gonna be tough,” he says.

“Breaking Amish” airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
