Fox Cancels ‘Lone Star’

After two weeks of dismal ratings, Fox will replace the drama with “Lie to Me” Mondays at 9 p.m.

It's time for "Lone Star" to ride off into the sunset. After two weeks of dismal ratings, Fox cancelled the Texas con man drama on Tuesday.

"We have decided to pull 'Lone Star' from our schedule and will air original episodes of 'Lie to Me' in the Monday 9 p.m. time slot, beginning next Monday with the 'Lie to Me' season three premiere," a spokesperson for the network said.

Fox's move, which was the first cancellation of the newly-arrived fall TV season, came as a surprise to no one.

Despite great critical buzz, "Lone Star's" series premiere earned an abysmal 1.3 rating/3 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic Sept. 20.

In an interview with TheWrap after the disappointing debut ratings came in, "Lone Star" creator Kyle Killen said episode two would be a make-or-break moment for the series.

"The truth is, in a week there's probably only going to be two ways you can describe 'Lone Star': a historically spectacular failure or a truly miraculous comeback," Killen said.

Episode two of "Lone Star" was actually down 23 percent from the premiere with a weak 1.0/3.

Let's all have a brief moment of silence for the first TV casualty of Fall 2010.
