‘Broadchurch’ Season 2: Shock Over Murder Plea in First Look (Video)

BCC America brings high drama in next installment of Chris Chibnall’s crime series

BBC's 'Broadchurch' returns for Season 2

As the second season premiere of BBC America’s hit “Broadchurch” draws closer, one question plagues the residents of the quaint English village the show is named for: Guilty or not guilty?

The answer draws plenty of shock in a sneak peek at the new season, which charts the aftermath of an 11-year-old boy’s murder. Watch the clip.

Matthew Gravelle, who plays killer-in-custory Joseph Michael Miller, elicits gasps and outrage when he (spoilers!) claims he’s not guilty of the crime. Stars David Tennant (“Dr. Who”) and three-time BAFTA winner Olivia Colman return.

“Broadchurch” premiered in 2013, quickly amassing fans with social media savvy. The series was so popular after its first season that Fox adapted it into “Gracepoint,” also starring Tennant and “Breaking Bad’s” Anna Gunn.

The American version has met with limited success in the ratings and may not advance beyond its 10-episode first season. “Broadchurch,” however, delivers its anticipated next installment on BBC America, Feb. 4 at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT.
