Singer will helm “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” for Fox, the studio confirmed on Tuesday. Matthew Vaughn, who directed "X-Men: First Class" — to which "Future Past" is a sequel —  was initially attached to direct but dropped out.

Singer was originally slated to serve as a producer on the film, alongside Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg.

Most of the "First Class" cast is set to return, including Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film will most likely shoot in London next spring, with a release date of July 18, 2014.
