Caitlyn Jenner raised eyebrows on Wednesday when she told The Advocate that not only does she “like” Ted Cruz, she wants to become his “trans ambassador.”
“I like Ted Cruz,” Jenner said. “I think he’s very conservative and a great constitutionalist and a very articulate man.”
But the feeling may no be mutual. TheWrap called the Cruz campaign to find out how the ultra-conservative Texas senator feels about Jenner’s generous offer … and while the campaign was aware of the story, it declined to comment.
Jenner, a staunch conservative, said she met Cruz before her transition. But even though she thinks he’s a swell guy, she stopped short of endorsing him.
“I haven’t endorsed him or anything like that,” Jenner said. “But I also think, he’s an evangelical Christian, and probably one of the worst ones when it comes to trans issues.”
In November, Cruz told a conservative radio host that allowing “boys, with all the god-given equipment of boys” to share a shower room with girls is “lunacy,” according to BuzzFeed.
