The “I Am Cait” star spent the evening with a group of friends including Candis Cayne and Geena Rocero

Newly minted transgender icon Caitlyn Jenner sparked a New York media frenzy Monday when she stepped out to meet Diane Sawyer and have dinner with a group of transgender models, actresses and activists.

The “I Am Cait” star tweeted a photo of herself at dinner with a group of women, including actress Candis Cayne and model Geena Rocero. The photo was accompanied by the caption “Such a fun dinner in NYC w/ this powerful group of trans women. They are all so beautiful.”

As the July 26 premiere of Jenner’s E! docu-series “I Am Cait” approaches, the former Olympian is speaking out about her reasons for sharing the journey with TV viewers.

“People don’t understand looking into the mirror and nothing seems right,” Jenner said in a trailer released on Friday. “This is about getting to be who you really are.”

“We’re going to talk about everything,” Jenner continued. “We’re going to do a lot of fun things for the first time. We’re going to go shopping for the first time. Maybe even some boy stuff, like ride a motorcycle, because girls do that too.”

“I Am Cait” premieres on E! June 26.
