Get a Closer Look at the Cali Cartel in ‘Narcos’ Season 3 Teaser (Video)

And they’re more dangerous than Escobar

After capturing Pablo Escobar at the end of “Narcos” Season 2, what’s next for Javier Peña?

The next big drug cartel. That’s what.

In first-look images and the first teaser from Season 3, we get a glimpse at the Cali Cartel, who will be the subjects of an investigation now that Escobar was captured and (spoiler!) executed.

And viewers can watch all of this go down starting on Sept. 1 on Netflix.

The Cali Cartel has been working behind the scenes of the main action in the series, forming alliances with ousted members of Escobar’s cartel. Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) secretly worked with them in Season 2, prompting the cliffhanger at the end of the season. Now Peña has to provide intelligence on them.

But who are we up against? First, we have Gilberto Rodriguez Orejuela (Damian Alcazar), who is the leader of the cartel. Then we have his brother Miguel Rodriguez Orejuela (Francisco Denis), hitman Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) and Chepe Santacruz Londono (Pepe Rapazote), who runs the NYC branch of the cartel.

The Cali Cartel runs things a bit differently than Escobar did, choosing to bribe government officials and keep violent acts out of the headlines. Basically, they work under the radar, making them more dangerous.

“While the whole world was focused on Escobar, Cali became the biggest cocaine cartel in history,” Peña says in voiceover in the trailer.
