Carrie Underwood Drops First Song Since Her Face Injury

The star says her face “has been healing pretty nicely”

Carrie Underwood released her first song, titled “Cry Pretty,” since suffering an injury last fall where she broke her wrist and injured her face.

The country music star wrote on her personal website that her “wrist is almost back to normal, about 90% there,” and that her “face has been healing pretty nicely as well.”

“I definitely feel more like myself than I have in a while,” the “American Idol” alum wrote.

Last November, Underwood fell down some steps outside her home in Nashville. She ended up needing between 40 and 50 stitches to her face in addition to her broken wrist.

“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about, since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote at the time in a blog post. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well.”

She told fans that once she healed, she “might look a bit different.”

The star posted the first photos of herself since the injury on Instagram last week.

Fans will get to see Underwood perform for the first time since her injury at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday.

Underwood also wrote that she’s working on a new album, which she’ll co-produce with David Garcia. She added that it will be her first time being involved in the production of her own music.

“I’ve been in the studio writing and singing a TON, but I’ve also been able to be creative in a way that I’ve never been before, which has been very fulfilling and empowering,” she wrote.

“It’s been challenging and incredibly rewarding to be involved in every aspect from start to finish,” she continued. “David has been an amazing teacher and partner, and I’m so proud of what we have created.”

“Needless to say, I am beyond excited for this new album and everything that comes with it…more on that soon,” she promised. “Of course, we’re already talking about a tour, but that’s a blog for another day! ”
