CBS Names Patricia Shevlin Exec Producer of ‘Evening News’

The long-time producer begins the job when Scott Pelley takes over for Katie Couric

Long-time CBS News producer Patricia Shevlin will be executive producer of the "CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley," the network announced Wednesday.

She begins the job on June 6, the same day Pelley takes over from Katie Couric, who is leaving the evening news show after five years as anchor.

Shevlin has been executive producer of the "CBS Evening News, Weekend Editions" since January 2000, and has been at the network since 1973. She has been an associate producer at "In the News," and a producer and senior producer of the "CBS Evening News," She's also been a senior producer on "CBS This Morning."

She has eight Emmys.

CBS News President David Rhodes made the announcement.

In a written statement, he said that "Pat has a wealth of experience and has shown tremendous dedication to CBS News. I know she will inspire the team that puts together Scott's broadcast each day. We're looking forward to making the 'Evening News' more competitive than ever."
