CBS Taps Chris Castallo as New Head of Alternative Programming

Castallo will replace Jennifer Bresnan, who announced her departure earlier Thursday

CBS Entertainment has promoted Chris Castallo to executive vice president, alternative programming, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said Thursday.

Castallo will replace Jennifer Bresnan, who's stepping down to relocate to New York, where her husband and family live. Bresnan will still consult with CBS Entertainment on unscripted efforts.

Previously, Castallo served as senior vice president, alternative programming, working with Bresnan on CBS's reality series, including the launch and production of the reality series "Undercover Boss."

“Chris is a skilled executive who thinks like a programmer, producer and promoter all at once," Tassler said. "He's a terrific combination of a hands-on executive with a great vision for the genre, and we look forward to his leadership in this area."

Castallo, who's been with CBS since 2007, previously worked at NBC as senior vice president, development. His career also includes a stretch at Tollin/Robbins Productions, where he helped develop and produce "Smallville," "One Tree Hill" and "What I Like About You."
