Channing Tatum, LeBron James Pitch ‘Public Enemy’ Picked Up by New Line

Action-comedy will be written by Lucas Carter

New Line Cinema has acquired LeBron James and Channing Tatum’s pitch titled “Public Enemy,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

James and Tatum’s production companies, SpringHill Entertainment and Free Association, will serve as producers on the film that will be written by Lucas Carter. The action-comedy will look at media in our current landscape.

James and his SpringHill partner Maverick Carter will produce, while Spencer Beighley and Jamal Henderson will oversee the project for the company. Andrew Schneider and Michael Parets will oversee for Free Association.

SpringHill, represented by WME, recently sold a pitch to Legendary called “Hustle” and is also executive producing the Netflix limited series “On Her Own Ground,” starring Octavia Spencer.

Free Association’s credits include “21 Jump Street” and “Magic Mike.” More recently, the company produced “Logan Lucky” and Tatum’s Amazon series “Comrade Detective.”

Tatum recently starred in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and produced “6 Balloons. He is currently working on projects “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” and “Smallfoot.” He is represented by UTA, Management 360 and Relevant.

James, apart from being an NBA star, also will voice a character in “Smallfoot.” He most recently starred in Amy Schumer’s “Trainwreck.” James is represented by WME and LRMR.
