Sony unveiled the trailer for its new “Charlie’s Angels” on Thursday, and Elizabeth Banks’ big-screen take is nothing like you saw in the ’70s.
In this one, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska are working for the mysterious Charles Townsend, whose security and investigative agency has expanded internationally, according to the description from Sony Pictures. There are now teams of Angels — the world’s smartest, bravest, and most highly trained women — guided by multiple Bosleys taking on the toughest jobs everywhere.
Banks is directing and plays one of the several Bosleys. (Djimon Hounsou and Patrick Stewart are also Bosleys). Banks also penned the screenplay from a story by Evan Spiliotopoulos and David Auburn.
Watch the trailer above. Scott plays the newbie of the group, and just wait until she sees the second closet.
The original “Charlie’s Angels,” which first starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith, ran on television from 1976 to 1981. The franchise was revived in the early 2000s for two movies starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. A very short-lived ABC TV series in 2011 starred Minka Kelly.
The new “Charlie’s Angels” arrives in theaters on Nov. 15.
