Charlize Theron to Star in Universal’s Spy Thriller ‘Need to Know’

Actress is also producing the CIA thriller based on Karen Cleveland’s upcoming novel

“Mad Max: Fury Road” actress Charlize Theron will star in Universal Pictures’ upcoming spy thriller “Need to Know.”

Based off an upcoming novel by former CIA analyst Karen Cleveland, the film will feature Theron as a wife and mother who works for the CIA. One day, she begins to suspect that there’s a Russian sleeper cell in the agency and starts digging through files to find evidence. What she discovers will put her life and her family in danger.

Theron is also producing the film with Beth Kono and AJ Dix. Universal’s Senior Vice President of Production Kristin Lowe will oversee the project.

Theron will next appear in Universal’s “The Fate of the Furious,” which opens on April 14. She is represented by WME and Hanson, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman L.L.P.

Cleveland is represented by David Gernert at The Gernert Company.  The film deal was made by WME on behalf of Gernert.
