A Chinese governmental investment group has signed "Training Day" director Antoine Fuqua and "Gladiator" and "Amistad" writer David Franzoni to direct and to write a romantic drama set in 8th century China.
It is Xi'an Qujiang Film & TV Investment Group's first U.S. film investment and it demonstrates the group's intention to increase its profile in Hollywood.

The $30 million movie will be set during the Tang Dynasty and is about the love affair between Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine, Yang Guifei.
An Zhao, chairman of the investment group is making the announcement today with Fuqua, Franzoni and actress and producer Lisa Lu.
