Chris Brown did not appear on “The Daily Show” Tuesday night after reports surfaced earlier in the week that his appearance was causing tension in the office.

Host Trevor Noah announced at the top of the hour that Nick Cannon would be his guest.

On Monday, The Daily Beast reported that some “Daily Show” staffers were unhappy with Brown’s booking, citing his prior conviction of felony assault against then-girlfriend Rihanna and other violent outbursts.

The report also indicated Noah had planned to use the interview as a platform to discuss domestic violence, having had personal experience with it in his past.

Comedy Central did not immediately return TheWrap’s requests’ for comment.
