Chris Hardwick Launches New Production Banner With Jason Blum

Hardwick’s new label, Spitball, has signed a first look deal with Blumhouse

Nerdist co-creator and “Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick has launched his own production banner, Spitball, and signed a three-movie first look deal with Blumhouse Productions.

Hardwick will produce three films for Blumhouse, one of which he plans to direct. As part of their own first look deal with Blumhouse, Universal will have first option to distribute the films.

“I was so inspired talking genre films with Chris on Nerdist that, by the end of the interview, I asked if he would consider doing a film with us,” Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum said in a statement.  “We met one more time later in the week and decided to make two more. Chris is a passionate genre fan and I feel lucky to be in business with him.”

“I’m a die-hard horror fan and have always wanted to be in the horror business,” Hardwick added. “Jason is an amazing entrepreneur, a super nice guy, and a brilliant producer who is responsible for putting out Several of my favorite films, so I am beyond excited for this partnership!”

On top of Spitball, Hardwick still works as CEO of the Nerdist, is host and executive producer of NBC’s upcoming “The Awesome Show,” and is developing three scripted shows as part of a first look deal with AMC. He is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Stone, Genow.
