“Monster Party” director Chris von Hoffmann will direct the horror film “The Unheard,” an existing spec script from “Crawl” scribes Michael and Shawn Rasmussen, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The Rasmussen brothers will also executive produce the project. Burn Later Productions, which produced films like the Sundance entries “Hearts Beat Loud” and “Drinking Buddies,” as well as Regina Hall’s “Support the Girls,” is producing the film. David Bernon, Sam Slater and Paul Bernon of Burn Later Productions are producing with Andrew Corkin (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”).

Von Hoffmann’s other credits include “Drifter,” as well as the shorts “The Kidnap,” “White Trash” and “Fuel Junkie.” He is represented by CAA and Grandview Management.

The Rasmussens wrote “Long Distance” and “The Ward,” and served as directors, producers and writers on both “Dark Feed” and “The Inhabitants.”

Their most recent project, “Crawl,” opened last weekend and grossed $12 million its opening weekend. It starred Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper and received rave reviews by critics, scoring “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. Alexandre Aja directed.

The Rasmussen brothers are represented by UTA and Good Fear Content.
