Chrissy Teigen Says Her ‘Heart Stopped’ When She Read Trump’s ‘Filthy Mouthed Wife’ Twitter Insult (Video)

“At that moment, you know that you’re about to get just the wildest group of people ever,” Teigen tells Ellen DeGeneres

When Chrissy Teigen first saw President Trump had called her the “filthy mouthed wife” of “boring” John Legend via Twitter on Sunday, she says her “heart stopped” and she got mad. So mad, in fact, that she thinks tears came to her eyes.

“It was a weird feeling,” Teigen told Ellen DeGeneres during Wednesday’s “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it, that I can’t believe this really happened right now. He just goes on these rants, usually very late at night for him you just wait for him to say something — but you don’t think it’s gonna be you!”

For those living under a rock, or maybe just not on Twitter, this all started when POTUS saw Legend speaking with NBC News’ Lester Holt in a special about criminal justice reform.

“I was not a part of it at all,” Teigen said. “And then Donald, for some reason, thought that John was taking all the credit for it — and me. I didn’t even know he was filming this thing. Honestly, I didn’t even know anything about it.”

But that didn’t stop Trump from tweeting this:

When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help. I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close. A man named @VanJones68 and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!). I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit. But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise. Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is–but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed. ‘Anchor’ @LesterHoltNBC doesn’t even bring up the subject of President Trump or the Republicans when talking about the importance or passage of Criminal Justice Reform. They only talk about the minor players, or people that had nothing to do with it. And the people that so desperately sought my help when everyone else had failed, all they talk about now is Impeaching President Trump!

“We all just wait for our day to come and mine happened to be Sunday,” the “Bring the Funny” judge said, before explaining that she’s been blocked by Trump for a while and had to have someone send her screenshots to see what had been said.

“My heart stopped because, at that moment, you know that you’re about to get just the wildest group of people ever…”

Her initial response on Sunday was a tweet that read: “lol what a p— a- b—. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president,” because Legend, Holt and Van Jones were all named by Trump and she was not.

“He called John a boring musician… and his ‘filthy mouthed wife,’ which, those two things are true: John is boring, I do have a filthy mouth,” Teigen told DeGeneres. “But when it’s you, when the card lands on you that day, it’s just really like, ‘Ugh, crap.’ ‘Cause your whole night is ruined.”

The cookbook author and model says she and Legend spent the rest of Sunday night looking at each other’s phones and formulating responses to people and trying to get different forms of her P—y A– B—h insult trending.

“We’re still working on how to copyright the correct term,” she joked with DeGeneres.

Teigen is known for speaking her mind on Twitter but says “she had been so good for so long” before Sunday. “I really, like, I had been on such good behavior. I really think before I tweet lately because, you know, I’ve really gotten to this point where I don’t want to offend people just for a joke.”

She says she was able to laugh off the incident because of the responses she received: “You realize why you love Twitter and why you love your friends. I had so many group chats of hilarious people and people making funny videos and sending me… So then you laugh about it.
