Sans the frosty white beard and belly that jiggles like a bowl full of jelly, Chrissy Teigen has once again played Santa Claus to one of her 5 million Twitter followers. The lucky soul this time is Mercedes Edney, whose beauty school tuition was paid by the model/doer-of-good-deeds.
Edney took to social media last month, starting a crowdfunding to help pay for her esthetician school tuition of $6,000. Her fundraising page brought in enough donations to hold a seat open for her, but she was way under the mark for the full tuition.
Enter her fairy godmother, a.k.a. Chrissy Teigen.
Friday, Edney was notified that a huge donation came in, one that would pay the remainder of the tuition — $5,605.
“I thought it was a glitch,” Edney wrote on her Instagram account. “I then look at my email and realized it came from my fundraiser. @chrissyteigen donated my entire tuition money for school.”
Teigen included a note with the donation that read, “I’ve seen this is your passion for such a long time now. So excited to see you fulfill your dream!”
Edney made a public thank you to her not-so-secret Santa and shared her emotional first day of class on social media.
@CruzanChoklate I’m really excited for you to live out your passion ❤❤❤

You guys, I walked into the school and explained what happened and burst into tears. The lady couldn’t believe what I was telling her.

This wasn’t the first time that Teigen has come to a fan’s rescue. Last July she sent a follower a blender after she mentioned needing one.
