The film will be produced by Headline Pictures, Scott Free Productions, Participant Media and Mark Sennet Productions.

The film will be directed by Mike Newell and centers on a meeting between President Ronald Reagan (Michael Douglas) and Premier Mikhail Gorbachev that signalled the end of the Cold War.

“I feel very fortunate to have two such masters to portray the men who brought about the end of the third great war of the 20 Century. Reagan and Gorbachev were two of the most significant politicians and individuals of their times”, said Mike Newell.

The production is due to begin in March 2013 on location in Reykjavik and Studio Babelsberg in Berlin, and will be based on a screenplay by Kevin Hood (“Becoming Jane”).  London’s HanWay Films is handling international sales and will introduce the project at the AFM.
