Christoph Waltz to Play Another Eccentric Psycho in ‘The Worst Marriage in Georgetown’

The two-time Oscar winner will also direct and produce the true crime drama for Voltage Pictures

Two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz will star in, produce and direct Voltage’s crime drama “The Worst Marriage in Georgetown,” which is based on a true story, TheWrap has learned.

Waltz will play Albrecht Muth, an eccentric (surprise, surprise) social climber who married a wealthy older widow, Viola Drath. Muth lied about his upbringing and came under suspicion when Drath was found murdered.

David Auburn adapted the script from a New York Times Magazine article by Franklin Foer. Waltz will produce with Erica Steinberg (Inglorious Basterds) and Voltage’s Nicolas Chartier.

Zev Foreman and Jonathan Deckter will executive produce with M. Janet Hill. Voltage will fully finance the project and sell international rights in Cannes. Waltz’s agency ICM Partners will co-represent U.S. rights with Voltage. Production is slated to start in October.

Waltz, who recently starred in “Big Eyes” with Amy Adams, will soon be seen battling Daniel Craig in the new James Bond movie “Spectre.” In addition to ICM, he’s represented by Sloane Offer.
