Christopher Boykin Mourned by His ‘Rob & Big’ Co-Star Rob Dyrdek: ‘My Heart Is Broken’

“I don’t want to believe that this is reality,” pro skateboarder writes in tribute to the man known as Big Black

Following the unexpected death of Christopher “Big Black” Boykin at age 45 on Tuesday, Rob Dyrdek, Boykin’s co-star on the MTV reality series “Rob & Big,” took to Twitter to express his grief over Boykin’s death, writing, “My heart is broken.”

In the first of a series of tweets dedicated to Boykin, Dyrdek wrote, “My heart is broken. I don’t want write this post. I don’t want to believe that this is reality. I am so thankful for you.”

Pro skateboarder Dyrdek added, “We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure. I just can’t fathom that it would end so suddenly” and “You will forever be in my heart.”

Boykin, Dyrdek’s bodyguard, appeared on three seasons of the MTV series, starting with its November 2006 launch. The series focused on the pair’s outlandish antics and unlikely friendship.

Boykin later appeared with Dyrdek on “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” and on several episodes of “Ridiculousness.”

On Thursday, Boykin’s ex-wife Shannon also expressed her grief. Shannon, the mother of Boykin’s daughter Isis, posted on Boykin’s Twitter account that the former reality TV star is “everything to me.”

“This is Shannon, Big Black’s ex-wife, I’m heartbroken to tell you of Black’s passing,” she wrote. “He’s everything to me and Isis and we will miss him.”
