The agreement with Chesler/Pulmutter is for at least four films per year

Cinedigm Corp. has entered into a multi-year agreement with Chesler/Perlmutter Productions for multiple family and faith-friendly films.

The deal provides for at least four films per year.

Cinedigm has acquired the distribution rights to more than 24 back catalog titles from the Chesler/Perlmutter library. Cinedigm will maintain all U.S. rights to the films, including digital, VOD and physical home entertainment.

“This deal represents a major expansion of the exhibition/distribution networks we have been building,” said Lewis Chesler and David Perlmutter, Co-Chairmen of Chesler/Perlmutter, according to statement to TheWrap. “Cinedigm’s unique vision and powerful distribution team support our focus: bringing high quality family-friendly material to all platforms.”

Cinedigm already has experience with digital channels via Docurama, which is currently available on over 165 million consumer devices including Roku, Xbox and Samsung. Comic-Con themed digital network ConTV is coming next, set to launch in the fall. In April, the company also launched a multi-picture distribution and production deal with Rapid Eye Film for 15 pictures, with three or four genre-centric films being produced per year.

Cinedigm’s expanding direct-to-consumer digital network is still in need of additional sources of high quality content. The Chesler/Perlmutter films will feed into Cinedigm’s Dove Foundation branded faith and family channel.

“Chesler/Perlmutter is synonymous with high quality family friendly entertainment,” said Bill Sondheim, President of Cinedigm Entertainment. “This deal will uniquely address our existing businesses like DVD and VOD while also supporting our emerging distribution strategies with digital channels like The Dove Channel.”
