Cinedigm Licenses Tracking Platform to FilmDistrict

Cinedigm has licensed its Theatrical Distribution System (TDS) to fellow distributor, FilmDistrict

Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. has licensed its Theatrical Distribution System (TDS) to fellow distributor FilmDistrict, which will use the tool to track the release of films,  the companies announced Monday.

Getty ImagesTDS has been designed to enable distributors to plan and execute release strategies and help determine which theater a film should play in.

TDS provides key information on  venues, including how previous films have performed there. It also provides information on the performance of a film, and can help track money owed to the distributor.

A variety of analytic tools can show, for example, how a film performed according to the print that was shown.

Traditionally, smaller distributors, like FilmDistrict, have had limited access to these systems.

“FilmDistrict is a long-standing and valued Cinedigm client and we are thrilled to partner with them again as their release slate grows,” said Adam Mizel, COO and CFO of Cinedigm.

“Having worked with Cinedigm’s team and technology before, we knew that they understood our needs and would work quickly to prepare us for ‘Red Dawn’ in November, and they have," said Jim Orr, FilmDistrict’s president of distribution.

In addition to “Red Dawn,” upcoming releases for FilmDistrict include the romantic comedy “Playing for Keeps,” starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Judy Greer and Dennis Quaid; “Parker,” directed by Taylor Hackford and starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez; and “Dead Man Down,” starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard and Dominic Cooper.
