Netflix’s Queen Elizabeth may take a serious walk on the wild side: In a fantastic hard left turn, Golden Globe winner Claire Foy is the front-runner to play Lisbeth Salander in Sony’s reboot of Stieg Larsson’s “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” franchise, TheWrap has learned.

Foy is at the top of a shortlist to take the role of the uber-edgy hacker Salander in “The Girl on the Spider’s Web,” one individual familiar with the project said.

“Don’t Breathe” breakout filmmaker Fede Alvarez is attached to direct.

Foy recently finished the second season of “The Crown,” in which she chars the young Queen Elizabeth II’s rise to power — and her dealings with a turbulent Prince Philip, Princess Margaret and Winston Churchill.

UTA reps Foy in the United States. The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Foy was in talks for the role.
