Clint Eastwood Re-Creates Molly Shannon’s ‘Superstar’ Move (Video)

The director appeared on “The Tonight Show” to promote his upcoming film “Sully” starring Tom Hanks

Clint Eastwood has acting and directing listed on his IMDb credits, but has now shown he also likes to impersonate other actors as well.

During his appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday, the director of the new fact-based drama “Sully” re-created Molly Shannon‘s signature move as Mary Katherine Gallagher from “Saturday Night Live” and the spinoff “Superstar.”

For those of you not familiar with the character, Shannon famously puts her fingertips under her arms and smells them when she gets nervous.

Shannon was also a guest on the show on Tuesday night. Her next film, “Other People,” will open on Friday and stars Jesse Plemons, Zach Woods and Bradley Whitford. It had its debut at Sundance Film Festival in January.

Host Jimmy Fallon then showed Eastwood the new app, “Bonk,” a picture app that warps selfies.

When Eastwood took the phone and looked at the app, Fallon said, “You gotta learn to do a selfie!”

After the picture was taken, the director wasn’t that impressed.

“I’ve looked worse,” he said.

“Sully” debuted at Telluride with positive reviews. The film, which stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney, has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 79 percent and will open in U.S. theaters on Friday.
