CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin was crowned queen off the quips after impressing judges at New York’s 9th Annual Funniest Reporter Show, held Sunday at the Comic Strip Live comedy club.
The competition featured over 40 professional reporters trying their hand at stand-up comedy as part of a philanthropic endeavor to raise funds and awareness for the Humane Society of New York. Participants from most major news networks attended and performed a five-minute set on stage.
“Brooke did an amazing job and we offer her our heartfelt congratulations,” show co-producers Mark Goldman and Ryan McCormick said in a statement obtained by TheWrap.
“We also offer our deepest appreciation to all participants in this year’s show. We cannot emphasize how courageous these individuals are and how their efforts help a great cause.”
Baldwin, who joined CNN and HLN in 2008, is the 2-4 p.m. anchor of “CNN Newsroom.”
Fox News’ Tamara Holder was runner-up, while Arise TV’s Andrew Schmertz finished third.
