CNN’s Carol Costello went on SiriusXM’s News and Issues channel and made it clear she doesn’t miss Jon Stewart‘s reign as host of “The Daily Show.”
“Everybody says, ‘Oh, no publicity is bad publicity,’ but frankly, I’ll just be honest with you: it did bug me,” Costello told “The Insight Hour” host Dean Obeidallah about Stewart’s regular ridicule of her employer.
Costello explained that a lot of Stewart’s humor came from “cherry picking” certain on-air moments. “I do try to block it from my mind,” she said.
“I will say this about Jon Stewart: He doesn’t go to congressional hearings and sit through them for five hours like our correspondents do. He doesn’t do that,” Costello said. “He just takes our work and makes fun of it. So sometimes I find myself saying ‘Screw you, Jon Stewart!'”
Costello joined CNN in 2001 and currently anchors “CNN Newsroom.” She has interviewed four former U.S. presidents, and has won Peabody and Emmy Awards during her decorated career.
Meanwhile, Stewart recently said he “would vote for Mr. T. over Donald Trump.”
Luckily for Costello, Stewart isn’t planning on returning to TV anytime soon.
“I feel like I’m engaged now,” Stewart recently said on David Axelrod’s podcast. “When you’re not on television, you’re still alive and you’re still engaged in the world. And I feel more engaged now in the real world than I ever did sitting on television interviewing politicians.”
In a fun twist, Axelrod is a political commentator for … CNN.
