Colbert Mocks Florida Lawmakers for Going After Porn Instead of Dealing With Guns (Video)

“What do you have against teenagers?” host asks

Trump and Colbert

At the start of Wednesday night’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” Colbert talked about Florida lawmakers voting down a ban on assault weapons less than a week after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 people. Colbert noted that instead, the GOP-dominated legislature approved a bill that declared porn “dangerous.”

“What do you have against teenagers?” Colbert asked. “First you won’t do anything about guns, now you’re taking away their porn.”

“What are you doing in there?!” said Colbert, imitating a parent knocking on a door. “You better be loading a gun, young man!”

Colbert’s comments came on the same day as a listening session President Trump held with survivors of gun violence, in which he was photographed with a crib sheet reminding him to say “I Hear You” to attendees. Trump was also criticized for saying teachers should be armed in the classroom as a solution to school shootings — since he denied supporting such a policy during the 2016 presidential election.
