Stephen Colbert is finally admitting that President Trump is good for business — if your business is a politics-heavy late-night comedy show that relies on selling advertising time to media buyers at a price based solely on TV tune-in.
The “Late Show” host wondered aloud Monday if a recent POTUS tweet citing his positive impact on “S.C.” might stand for “Stephen Colbert.” It definitely did not — but it could, considering the “Daily Show” alum has leapfrogged Jimmy Fallon in average nightly total viewers.
“I gotta say: Donald Trump has done a lot for me in the first hundred days,” the surging CBS personality quipped. “Thank you for your service, Mr. President.”
“And now I feel dirty,” Colbert concluded.
It’s OK, Steve — we all do. Here’s Trump’s tweet:
No matter how much I accomplish during the ridiculous standard of the first 100 days, & it has been a lot (including S.C.), media will kill!
