Colbert’s ‘Veep’-‘The Late Show’ Crossover Explores the Most Depressing Multiverse Ever (Video)

Turns out we’re trapped

Stephen Colbert Veep Crossover

Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” tried to alter reality by crossing over Thursday night with HBO’s “Veep,” and the results were both funny and bleak.

The crossover came courtesy of a fun video clip featuring almost all of the main cast of “Veep” — including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Anna Chlumsky, Tony Hale, Matt Walsh, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson. In the scene, Colbert appears through a wormhole to surprise the “Veep” team.

Colbert explains that he’s come because “the things that you’re doing on this earth then happen on my world. Over and over again.” As examples, Colbert cites eerie similarities between “Veep” and real life, citing a “foul-mouthed president who tweets like a child, blaming everything on the Chinese, election interference,” and “a completely incompetent press secretary.”

“You are killing my world,” Colbert says. Unfortunately, his pleas fall on deaf ears. The Veepsters are tripped up on Colbert’s claim that “on my earth, I now host ‘The Late Show’ on CBS.”
