Colton Haynes Unloads After Coming Out: 'Hollywood Is So F----- Up'

Colton Haynes, who will next star in Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story: Cult,” took Hollywood to task in a series of tweets, saying he has lost jobs due to his sexual orientation.

“Hollywood is so f—– up. So much of the focus is on your personal life & has nothing to do with the talent you have to bring to the table,” he wrote on Tuesday. “Thank god for Ryan Murphy, Greg Berlanti, & Jeff Davis. They believe gay actors are more than just their personal lives.”

In a followup tweet, Haynes wrote, “So disappointed in how Hollywood cant understand that playing a character has nothing to do with how u live your personal life.”

In response, “Cult” costar Billy Eichner tweeted, “AMEN.” Andy Mientus, best known for the NBC series “Smash,” responded, “I’m afraid I know exactly what you’re talking about. Be strong, brother.”

This isn’t the first time Haynes has spoken out about what it’s like to be gay in Hollywood. In June, the former “Arrow” star explained why he didn’t publicly disclose his sexuality earlier.

“I was literally told from the day that I moved to Los Angeles that I could not be gay because I wouldn’t work,” he said. “It was horrible — then I just had a breakdown. I kind of had a mental break and I just couldn’t to work on the show anymore.”

In May 2016, Haynes publicly came out as gay after a social media post in January raised fan speculation about his sexuality. That January, a fan made a comment about Haynes’ “secret gay past” on a Tumblr post, to which the actor replied, “Was it a secret?” Celebrity bloggers took the post as a confirmation that he was coming out, but Haynes didn’t make any further comment on the matter.

Shortly after the post, he checked into rehab to deal with anxiety issues that he says led to ulcers. Haynes says his health issues were the main reason behind his decision to leave his role as the superhero Arsenal on “Arrow” the previous year.

After a year of drama, break-ups and make-ups, Miss Piggy had been laying low and getting her career in order. So Haynes went to great lengths to let the long-time diva know that he's still thinking of her. The costume's total work time was over two days, which included the molding of prosthetics and hours of application. With an added gigantic fake chest, Haynes' Halloween look stole the night once again in 2016.
