Columbia Pictures named Andrew Z. Davis president of production administration, the studio announced Wednesday.
In his new role Davis will supervise physical production including post production and visual effects for Columbia Pictures films and live-action portions of Sony Pictures Animation projects.
Davis takes over the role from Gary Martin, who is retiring after 51 years in the entertainment industry — 32 at Columbia Pictures — and overseeing the production of more than 600 films.

"As both an executive and a producer, he has extraordinary skill and enormous experience and he brings with him a disciplined and cost conscious approach to production management," President of Columbia Pictures Doug Belgrad said in a statement. "It won't be easy stepping into Gary Martin's shoes…but we are thrilled and fortunate that he worked with us to help select his successor who will continue the work of making our productions the best run in the business."
Davis oversaw physical production at MGM from 2003 to 2005 before returning to producing motion pictures such as "In Time," "Your Highness," both with he was the executive producer.
