‘Community’ Star Yvette Nicole Brown Hooks Up With ‘Welcome to the Family’

NBC’s “Welcome to the Family” is getting a little bit of “Community” in it.

Yvette Nicole Brown, who plays Shirley Bennett on the NBC comedy “Community,” will guest-star on an upoming episode of the network’s freshman comedy “Welcome to the Family.”

Brown will play an annoying neighbor who goes head-to-head with Dan Yoder (series star Mike O’Malley.)

“Welcome to the Family,” which also stars Mary McCormack, Ella Rae Peck, Joseph Haro and Justina Machado, has struggled to establish itself in the ratings. The series premiere landed a 1.2 rating/4 share in the advertiser-preferred 18-49 demographic. The following week, the series dropped 27 percent in the demo, scoring a 0.8/2.
