"Glee" star Cory Monteith, who died Saturday in Vancouver from a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol at age 31, will be remembered with a pair of vigils in Victoria and Vancouver in British Columbia on Friday.

Vigil organizer Karleigh Walker told CBC News that she's encouraging Monteith fans to gather Friday evening at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel, where Monteith's body was discovered dead last weekend.
Describing the vigil as "just kind of spur-of-the-moment thing," Walker noted that the city was a really big part of his life and "I feel like we should definitely honor that part and take pride."

Fans will also gather in Victoria, where the actor was raised, Friday evening, according to local radio reports confirmed by a city official. The vigil is planned at Clover Point Park.

Fans have been leaving flowers, notes and other items on the sidewalk in front of the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel since his death on Saturday. Monteith had long struggled with substance abuse and had entered rehab earlier this year.
