Crackle, NBCUniversal Sign Multi-Year Film Licensing Deal

Online streaming partnership kicks off with ad-supported VOD rights to “Miami Vice,” “Jarhead,” “King Kong” and “Ray”

Crackle and NBCUniversal have entered an exclusive, multi-year content licensing deal to stream feature films.

Beginning on Thursday, Crackle users will have access to several movies, with more than 140 new library titles rolling out over the next three years.

The deal gives Crackle the exclusive ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) rights to a variety of feature films, including the big-screen reboot of “Miami Vice,” starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx; war drama “Jarhead,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal; the remake of “King Kong,” starring Naomi Watts and Jack Black; and the Academy Award-winning biography “Ray,” starring Jamie Foxx.

“As an ad-supported, over-the-top network we pride ourselves on having a prime selection of premium content,” said Philip Lynch, senior vice president of Digital Networks & Games for Sony Pictures Television. “Bringing NBCUniversal’s collection of library films to Crackle complements our original programming and reinforces our commitment to provide viewers with even more streaming choices.”
