D23 Expo: ‘Raising Hope’ Star Lucas Neff Voicing Lead in Disney/Pixar’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’

Dino tale imagines a world that was never hit by that giant asteroid

Lucas Neff will voice the lead apatosaurus in Disney/Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur," while John Lithgow and Frances McDormand play the mom and dad dinos, the studio announced Friday at its D23 Expo.

It was just the first piece of Mouse House feature-film news to come out of the fan event, which Disney puts on as a proprietary Comic-Con of sorts. The studio was rolling out animated features on Friday, with live-action — including Marvel and Star Wars goodies — coming Saturday.

Neff's character is one of the dino family's kids — his siblings will be voiced by "SNL" alum Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris and Judy Greer.

A teaser for the film shows a world in which the giant asteroid that theoretically wiped out the dinosaurs misses Earth — leading to a world where sentient dinos co-exist with human beings.

Fun fact: "The Good Dinosaur" will be the second time Lithgow and Harris have played father and son — Lithgow has appeared as NPH's father on "How I Met Your Mother" (H/T/ to Eric Goldman at IGN for pointing that out).
