Stephen Colbert Labels Jeff Sessions the ‘Bad Person’ Over Trump’s DACA Cut (Video)

You set yourself up for that one, attorney general

Maybe Jeff Sessions should stop talking (publicly) for a while.

While attempting to explain President Trump’s cut to the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) immigration program on Tuesday, the attorney general said the following about the new potential deportees, who came here as kids: “This does not mean they’re bad people, or that our nation disrespects or demeans them in any way.”

In his return to CBS’ late-night, Stephen Colbert turned that statement on its head. “That’s right, Jeff. Deporting innocent children does not mean they’re bad people,” he said. “It means you’re a bad person.”

Ouch. Earlier in his setup, Colbert labeled Sessions a “turnip that learned to hate,” just in case there was any confusion about how the comedian really feels about our nation’s top lawyer.

“The thing is, the vast majority of Americans like this program,” Colbert explained. “So by canceling it, Trump has stepped in some deep DACA.”
