Daft Punk’s New Track Breaks Spotify Records

"Get Lucky" ousts Macklemore and Bastille's one-day streaming records

Daft Punk's new single, "Get Lucky," has broken Spotify's one-day streaming records in the United States and United Kingdom.

"Get Lucky" is the first new single from Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in eight years. The song ousted Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" and Bastille's "Pompeii," the previous Spotify record holders in America and the UK, respectively. The disco track from the duo's forthcoming album, Random Access Memories, features Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. Exact streaming numbers aren't currently available.

"The robots have once again shown themselves to be true innovators, not only with their new musical direction and the stellar cast of collaborators they're working with, but also by undertaking one of the best album campaigns we've seen for some time," said Will Hope, director of label relations at Spotify. "We expect the album to become one of the biggest, if not the biggest, on Spotify this year."
