Damon Wayans Jr’s Dad Damon Wayans Cast as Damon Wayans Jr’s Dad on CBS’ ‘Happy Together’

”Lethal Weapon“ actor (for now) will guest star later this month

Here’s some typecasting for you: Damon Wayans Jr.’s father Damon Wayans has been cast as Damon Wayans Jr.’s father on CBS’ “Happy Together.”

Wayans (Sr.) will guest star on the sitcom’s Oct. 29 episode when his character, Mike, comes to town. It’s not great timing.

Mike arrives at the same time Jake (Wayans Jr.) is attempting to keep the romance alive with his wife Claire (Amber Stevens West), who is away, per CBS’ description. We all know where this is going.

Wayans and Wayans Jr. have previously shared scenes on comedies “Happy Endings” (Wayans Jr.’s show) and “My Wife and Kids” (the older Damon Wayans’ show).

Earlier this month, Papa Wayans said he is “quitting” his Fox drama “Lethal Weapon” in December after wrapping on the first 13 episodes of Season 3.

“I’m going to be quitting the show in December after we finish the initial 13 [episodes],” he told Electronic Urban Report. “I’m a 58-year-old diabetic and I’m working 16-hour days.”

“Like Murtaugh said, ‘I’m too old for this,'” Wayans added, channeling his character, Roger Murtaugh, who was played in the “Lethal Weapon” movies by Danny Glover.

Wayans said he plans to “return to the stage” to “try to find my smile again.”

“Happy Together” airs Mondays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
